About Our Founder

I'm Emilia Kruszewska, the Founder and CEO of RecruitHer- a specialist recruitment agency dedicated to championing diverse talent within edtech go-to-market teams. My passion lies in empowering individuals, particularly women with backgrounds in education, to shape the future of learning technology.

The seed for RecruitHer was planted in 2024 during my own transition between EdTech companies. As I researched the sector, a striking pattern emerged: a lack of diversity, not just within teams but glaringly so at the leadership level. This homogeneity, I observed, often translated into a stagnation of product innovation. It brought to mind Matthew Syed's powerful insights in Rebel Ideas, where he eloquently argues how homogeneous teams can stifle creativity and limit problem-solving (Syed, 2019). For me, it became a clear mission: the talent landscape in EdTech needed to change.

Given that women make up the majority of the education workforce while students represent a diverse mix, the lack of women in EdTech leadership and marketing roles creates a notable gap. The principle that women are often best positioned to market to other women drives RecruitHer's mission. Studies consistently show that diverse teams deliver better business results, fostering greater innovation and improved financial outcomes (Hunt et al., 2018). My work involves helping EdTech organizations create teams that mirror the varied demographics of their actual users—both educators and students—enabling them to develop products with authentic educational value and impact.

My journey to founding RecruitHer has been a winding, yet purposeful, one. Born and raised in Poland, I moved to the UK in 2008. After an early foray into property, I discovered my true calling in education. I upskilled, earning my CELTA qualification, and went on to successfully build and run my own language school for seven years before selling it to a competitor.

This entrepreneurial chapter provided invaluable insights into the intricacies of educational institutions. Eager to deepen my understanding, I then joined various EdTech corporations and higher education organizations. This experience gave me an insider's perspective on how educational institutions operate, coupled with hands-on experience in EdTech go-to-market teams, honing my skills in selling to this unique market.

Equipped with this blend of entrepreneurial spirit, deep educational insight, and EdTech sales expertise, RecruitHer's mission is clear: to empower EdTech CEOs and founders. We help them secure vital second-round investments and achieve sustainable growth by building truly authentic, diverse, and innovative go-to-market teams. We believe that diverse perspectives are not just a moral imperative but a strategic advantage, driving innovation and ultimately, ensuring the success of EdTech solutions.

Beyond my professional life, I'm a proud mother, co-parenting my daughter with her other mum. When I'm not busy with RecruitHer, you'll often find me enjoying water sports, or indulging in my newfound love for running and planning my next half-marathon! I also have a passion for mushroom picking, which takes me out into nature for a bit of calm.
